Call for local artists to join Worcestershire Open Studios with new year-round format

Artists across Worcestershire are being invited to join Worcestershire Open Studios, as the organisers launch a new extended format.

Participants are being offered a year-round presence on the Worcestershire Open Studios website, with the opportunity to feature a gallery of their work and promote their exhibitions, workshops and events.

The annual Worcestershire Open Studios event will also return on the weekend of 28 to 30 August 2021. The weekend will bring together art lovers with local, Worcestershire artists who will have the opportunity to open their studios, galleries and work spaces to the public. In a new addition for 2021, organisers are offering artists a programme of online events and, later in the year, an outdoor art market.

One of the event organisers, Richard Nicholls, said, “Our plans remain flexible and realistic in light of the challenges Covid-19 presents. We remain dedicated to giving local artists the opportunity to share their work with the public, both online and in person. Our new format gives more possibilities to do this and also provides extra benefits, including art supplier discounts and subsidised training. We are really hopeful that the open studios weekend will go ahead in August, after being cancelled in 2020. It will be open to all artists who’ve signed up for our new year-round format and we’d encourage artists to get involved.”

Worcester based artist, Nicola Currie, said, “I am hugely grateful to Worcestershire Open Studios for providing me with an annual opportunity to showcase and share my work with people from around the county and beyond. The weekend has the atmosphere of a festival and enables people from all walks of life and all ages to come and explore art and see what is created locally. Open Studios remains one of my best opportunities for selling paintings, prints and cards and for keeping in contact with art lovers locally, nationally, and internationally.” Applications to be part of Worcestershire Open Studios are welcome from all disciplines, including photography, ceramics, fine art, abstract art and crafters. Artists can visit the Worcestershire Open Studios website for more information and to register.
