British duo The Blackheart Orchestra – multi-award-winning multi-instrumentalists Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington – are a two-piece ensemble with the scale and ambition of a full symphony. On stage, they command up to 13 instruments, crafting an immersive live show from their so-called “musical space station”.

Their performances weave together a rich tapestry of sound: from acoustic and electric guitars, bowed guitar and bass, to piano, organ, vintage synths, omnichord, melodica, glockenspiel and layers of electric percussion. The result is a sonic landscape that is as emotionally charged as it is inventive.

Drawing on influences that span Pink Floyd and Kate Bush to modern visionaries Steve Reich and Philip Glass, The Blackheart Orchestra fold folk and rock roots into sweeping electronic and classical textures. Even Genesis founder Steve Hackett has praised their work as “powerful and inspiring”.

The Blackheart Orchestra | Bloodlines

Recent single Bloodlines broke into the UK Top 20, reaching #19 and earning acclaim from BBC 6 Music as “intensely beautiful”. Their last two albums also secured Top 20 positions, with Hotel Utopia peaking at #13 and taking home Best British Album, Best Song and Best Female Vocalist at the USA Progressive Rock Awards. Currently, the duo boast six placements on UK “Best Album of the Year” lists – no small feat for an outfit so resolutely unique.

The Blackheart Orchestra are not merely performers; they’re alchemists of sound, blending the familiar with the otherworldly, ensuring each performance is as breath-taking as the last.
