Bridges of Light
29th and 30th October, from 6pm to 9pm
Worcester’s city centre is set to sparkle this autumn as Severn Arts unveils the full programme for Bridges of Light.
Over two nights, the city will come alive with glowing artworks, illuminated installations, and interactive experiences designed to celebrate community, connection, and creativity. Visitors are invited to explore the festival at their own pace — taking in the sights, sounds, and stories that light up Worcester’s streets, bridges, and landmarks.
Highlights include Shadow Dance by Impossible Art, transforming Cathedral Square into a stage for giant, multicoloured silhouettes, and Cygnet Song by Illuminos, which will bathe Worcester’s Severn Bridge in mesmerising projections. At Henry Sandon Hall, Emergency Exit Arts present Stitching Light,a vibrant textile installation celebrating the journeys of Bangladeshi women, created in partnership with Worcester Mela. Inside, Kim Piffy’s Imagining a Bright Future invites visitors into a glowing world of UV creatures, origami cranes and mirrored reflections.
Meanwhile, Lou Chapelle’s ethereal Bird Songs fills Old Palace Gardens with holographic birds and a haunting choral soundscape, while Tine Bech Studios brings playful energy to The Hive with Catch Me Now, an interactive game of chase. Elsewhere, Chris Plant’s Macroscopic magnifies the hidden beauty of everyday objects, and Light Art Creatives’ Digital Graffiti lets visitors paint the Guildhall walls with light. Stellar Creates’ Stars Come Out at Night transforms St Helen’s Church into a slowly revolving universe, accompanied by a soundscape from local composer Daniel Soley.
Two light trails will guide visitors through the city centre, featuring Chris Plant’s harmonic portals and Catt Standen’s shimmering iridescent cubes. Maps are available from the Severn Arts website or in print at the Tourist Information Centre and The Hive.
Look out, too, for the Giant Arctic Fox Puppet, inspired by the legend of the creature that paints the Northern Lights across the sky.
Bridges of Light is a free, family-friendly event — a radiant celebration of imagination and togetherness.
