DRUM & LACE, Rhubiqs and Moss Grotto
Spin the Black Circle on 18th July 2025
Doors 7pm, tickets available online
Get ready for an intimate and immersive night of live electronic music, headlined by acclaimed musician DRUM & LACE, with support from composer and sound designer rhubiqs, and atmospheric soundscapes courtesy of local post-rock outfit Moss Grotto.
Drum & Lace is the moniker of Florence-raised, London-based artist Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist. Her music draws inspiration from the natural world and is woven with field recordings — while her sound is largely electronic, each track has an unmistakably grounded, organic feel. Her 2022 debut album Natura found influence in soil and rolling hills, while 2023’s Frost EP explored the hushed beauty of winter. Her second full-length album, ONDA, out now on Fabrique Records, is her most dancefloor-leaning work to date.
Sofia has performed alongside an eclectic and distinguished range of artists, including William Basinski, Suzanne Ciani, Shirley Manson (of Garbage), Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, black midi, Sqürl, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius. Her live shows have graced revered London venues such as Café OTO, EartH, and St Pancras Old Church, as well as international stages including Moogfest, Public Records NY, Slingshot Festival, National Sawdust’s Digital Discovery Festival (US), and Festa dell’Opera in Italy.
rhubiqs is the alias of London-based composer and sound designer Tom Squires, known for his textured, ambient electronic soundscapes. As described in an interview with Sun 13 Music: “On Aegis of Silence, Squires produces his finest work to date. Exploring new territory, the results are completely dynamic — each of the nine tracks stands apart, with its own sonic language.”

Moss Grotto, meanwhile, have been curating experimental music events under the Drones and Tones banner for the past year — each show drawing larger audiences than the last. For this special evening, they’ll open with a suite of original soundscapes, fusing droning loops with soaring post-rock crescendos.
