Poster for Dave Simpson Exhibition at The Barn

The Barn, Musuc & Arts Centre, Ledbury
(Until End of April 2026)

Dave Simpson has lived in Worcester for twenty years and has been painting since 2009, although his interest in art began much earlier. At the age of five, he copied a striking Spider-Man comic image of a man-spider looming over the hero, an experience that may explain the strong outlines that appear in his work today.

Later, after being inspired by abstract art seen in a gallery window, he began sketching patterns during his daily train commute. These small doodles gradually developed into larger pieces.

His paintings are colourful, psychedelic, and process-driven, often guided by simple rules that remove decision-making and allow him to enter a calm and focused state while working. After a break from exhibiting, he returned last year to share how the process of making art can support mental wellbeing.

The Barn will no longer be running cafe days on Saturdays. Instead, we will be open for music club and bands on Friday and Saturday evenings. Watch this space for future events and party
