Worcester – Saturday 28th June
The Severn Arts Summer Festival returns for its second year. Musical performances, art exhibitions and family activities will be on offer for free in four city centre venues from 10am-4pm.
The Summer Festival, running for its second year, is a celebration of local creativity and young talent. Musical performances will take place throughout the day at The Guildhall and in its courtyard. Severn Arts youth bands and orchestras, as well as solo and small group performances, will also be on offer. Additional performances will take place at St Andrew’s Church from 11am.
For the first time the festival will include a youth-led event, designed and hosted by young people aged 13 -18. ‘Creating a Sustainable Tomorrow’, by Severn Arts’ ‘Young Producers’, welcomes everyone to Arch 27 from 10:30am – 4pm. The event, themed around sustainability, will combine crafting, upcycling fashion, live music and an interactive art exhibition. Severn Arts’ Music Box bus will also be outside the Arches for drop-in musical fun.
Severn Arts CEO Laura Worsfold said: “This event is always such a joy and showcases our wonderful, talented young people. Severn Arts is proud of the impact music and art has on each and every one of them and this festival is the culmination of the work our
teachers and events staff have put in over the past year. We hope the sun will shine and they have a great audience to appreciate all their performances and activities!”
India George, Projects and Events Coordinator, said: “I’m excited to see the Summer Festival return to the city centre again this year, and it is a wonderful event to celebrate everything we do here at Severn Arts. Come along and watch our young musicians perform a variety or music and take part in some creative activities with our Young Producers at Arch 27! ” The Severn Arts Summer Festival will run from 10am-4pm. All events are free. Please visit the Severn Arts website for the full timetable.
