Black Foxxes

Friday 10th April
Actress & Bishop, Birmingham
Doors: 7:30 pm
Uncover Music presents an intimate, emotionally charged night of alternative rock as Black Foxxes headline Actress & Bishop on Friday 10th April, with special guests Sweet Giant and Dystopia Gently.
Black Foxxes have long stood apart in the UK alternative scene, crafting music rooted in raw honesty, instinct and unfiltered emotion. Drawing influence from the likes of Neil Young, Sonic Youth and PJ Harvey, their sound blends rugged beauty with cathartic intensity, a vivid tapestry shaped by frontman Mark Holley’s years spent living in remote, wild landscapes across the world.
Holley’s last decade has taken him from isolated corners of the globe to the Rocky Mountains and the Yukon, living off‑grid, building by hand, and surviving hostile environments. Encounters with grizzlies, black wolves and Arctic snowstorms have all seeped into the band’s evolving sound, inspiring music forged in solitude, resilience and connection to the land. Black Foxxes’ philosophy remains simple: no gimmicks, no façade, just truth.
On stage, the band are famously unpredictable. Some nights erupt into 30‑minute transcendental jams; others are stripped‑back, ragged and immediate. Every show is different, every moment real.
Emerging from the underground like a mycelial bloom, Sweet Giant bring spitting amps, rattling drums, buzzing oscillators and runaway echo, building a psychedelic, earth‑born surge of sound that feels both ancient and electrifying.
Opening the night is Dystopia Gently, the project of Birmingham‑based musician Katherine Evans. Their debut single Chimeras Tonight (Too Mercury) blends upbeat indie rock with shoegaze shimmer and a touch of nostalgia, accompanied by a hand‑drawn animated video where two women fall in love and transform into strange, dreamlike creatures. Expect heartfelt storytelling, queer joy and a sound that refuses to sit neatly in any box.
A beautifully curated night of vulnerability, noise, atmosphere and artistic fearlessness. Perfect for fans of alt‑rock that hits straight at the heart.
