Worcester’s historic spaces continue to find new life thanks to local promoters Worcester Source, who return this April with another intimate show inside the atmospheric setting of St Helen’s Church on Fish Street.

Run by independent promoters Ben Hall and Hannah Webb, Worcester Source has quickly built a reputation since launching in 2023 for bringing quality original music into some of the city’s lesser-used venues. Previous events have welcomed the likes of Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet, showcasing a mix of touring talent and standout local acts in unique surroundings.

Their latest event sees Brighton outfit Town of Cats roll into town. The band’s high-energy sound blends reggae grooves with funk, brass and prog-leaning guitar work — the kind of groove-heavy set that dares you not to dance. Expect tight rhythms, bold horn lines and plenty of musical curveballs as the group bring their festival-honed live show to Worcester.

Support on the night comes from local collective Severn Kollectiv, who have been steadily building a following across the region with vibrant live performances and festival appearances including Nozstock The Hidden Valley. Their genre-blending approach makes them a fitting opener for what promises to be a lively night.

The gig takes place inside St Helen’s Church, tucked just off the High Street — a beautiful but often overlooked venue that provides a striking backdrop for live music. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the music starting from 8pm.

Worcester Source say their mission remains simple: champion original artists, make use of the city’s historic spaces and keep live music accessible.

“In a world where prices are forever rising, our goal is to bring quality original live music to our little city, pay musicians fairly and not break the bank for the wonderful public that support our shows,” says promoter Hannah Webb.

The night will also feature an in-house bar, helping turn the event into a full evening out in one of Worcester’s most atmospheric venues.
