Laurence Jones + Amy Eftekhari
Sunday 15th February
£15 in advance
Liverpool’s own blues-rock firebrand Laurence Jones is heading to The Marr’s Bar for a special acoustic solo show that strips everything back to the source: pure, uncut blues. No bombast, no frills — just songs, stories and serious guitar chops.
Award-winning and critically acclaimed, Jones has already clocked up a CV most players only dream of. He’s shared stages with Ringo Starr, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck and Johnny Winter, and in 2024 hit the road with Status Quo on their farewell tour. When Buddy Guy famously dubbed him “a young Eric Clapton”, it wasn’t hyperbole — it was recognition from the top table.
This intimate performance finds Jones returning to his roots. Raised on classical guitar, he channels that discipline into the raw emotion of the blues-rock that’s earned him a devoted following across Europe. The set reflects the spirit of his forthcoming first solo album, released this year on his own RON RECORDS label — a deeply personal tribute to his grandfather. Tackling life with Crohn’s, love, loss and endless miles on the road, it’s an honest, lived-in blues record that hits home.
Expect virtuoso playing, stripped-back arrangements and a sense of closeness you don’t often get in bigger rooms. It’s powerful, personal and steeped in tradition — a reminder of why Jones remains one of the genre’s most compelling performers.
Opening the night is South London singer-songwriter Amy Eftekhari. Known for her emotionally direct songwriting, Eftekhari blends vulnerability with quiet strength, as heard on her debut EP All the Words. A perfect warm-up for an evening rooted in authenticity and soul.
