Following on from hosting the Friday Worcester Music Festival stage at St Swithun’s Church, Drones and Tones present STATIC featuring SINK a London-based alternative artist Sink forges high-contrast music, uncovering beauty in blemishes and melodies hidden beneath grit and noise. Always seeking new approaches to song writing, Sink’s work lives between indie folk, electronic, and experimentalism. Sink’s live performances combine bass, synths, and vocals layered into walls of sound, mangled beats, and distortion reminiscent of early shoegaze. Sink has released tracks on Max Cooper’s Mesh and Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community, and shared stages with Rival Consoles. Having previously performed at venues including London’s Cafe OTO, Belgrave Music Hall, Norwich Arts Centre, Rescue Rooms, Summerhall and Button Factory, At its heart, Sink’s music is about contrast between the raw and the embellished. Sink is actively working as a film composer on feature films, and has recently collaborated with Adam Janota Bzowski (Black Mirror, Saint Maud) on the Netflix drama-thriller Night Always Comes (starring Vanessa Kirby, Julia Fox, Eli Roth),directed by Benjamin Cranon (Andor, The Crown, Sherlock).
Also on the bill are local experimental musicians, and hosts of Drones and Tones events Moss Grotto who will be performing a selection of original ambient and post-rock tracks – layering guitar, bass, modular synth and tape loops to create an immersive and haunting soundscape. Inspired by nature, failed Arctic expeditions, and ancient history.
Openers Bretwalda create Medieval soundscapes and dark age dub: Pre-industrial music for post-industrial people.
This isn’t dungeon synth – no heroes, no dragons, and absolutely no bards! Think music for dying in a hovel from bubonic plague at the ripe old age of 32.
