The new single from Truck, a band self-described as an Indie/ Country-ey/ Emo-ey band from Cheltenham, was released on Friday 27th March. The band blends their musical influences to create a fresh sound. Having appeared at festivals such as Dot to Dot, Underground and London’s Burned Out, Truck have some mileage in their boots already. A Little Bit Of Love has been worked on with iconic producer Bob Cooper and has already been featured on BBC Introducing in the West.
The track itself has a summery vibe to it, giving it that first swig of cold cider feeling whilst looking out over a country field. In essence, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is a run of the mill love song. Well, I guess it is, but the opening lyric of, “It came as no surprise that you told another lie”, leads us to believe that receiving that little bit of love isn’t coming quite as easily as the title suggests. The music has a country flavour, and I’m sure the band would not be surprised at a comparison to Dodgy, with the hints of catchy pop hitching a ride too. Maybe if McFly met Dodgy by a truck next to the hay bales.
As the lyrics develop, the song expresses a desire to be valued more than just “another shirt on your washing line”—to feel truly important to someone. The use of the word “Truck” cleverly peppered in so we don’t forget who we’re listening to. The title of the track is repeated over and over to really drive home the need for attention. The video that accompanies is wholesome and fun, showing the bands antics while performing the track, super imposed over various scenes and landscapes. You can’t help but smile. The melody lingers, remaining in your mind long after the music stops.
It’s a 3 minute catch up with your fun friends, leaving you with a warm glow inside after you’ve all hugged goodbye. Stick this on if you’re having a drink outside with your mates, have a smile, have a sing-a-long. Have fun!
