Gig Preview: Sunflower Thieves + Edie Bens
Thursday, 30th April – Centrala, Birmingham
Doors: 7:30 pm
Uncover Music presents a beautifully intimate evening at Centrala as Sunflower Thieves headline on Thursday, 30th April, joined by special guest Edie Bens.
Rooted in a lifelong friendship, Sunflower Thieves, the Leeds‑formed duo of Amy Illingworth and Lily Sturt‑Bolshaw, have carved out a space entirely their own. Their music is built on close‑knit harmonies, emotional honesty and a warm, dream‑laden sound that has earned praise from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Atwood Magazine and more.
Self‑produced and fiercely authentic, the duo blend rousing, atmospheric soundscapes with lyrical vulnerability, exploring friendship, connection, mental health and the quiet moments that shape us. Their debut EP ‘Someone To Be There For’ (2022) and follow‑up Same Blood (2024) cemented their reputation as one of the UK’s most tender and thoughtful emerging acts.
On stage, Sunflower Thieves are warm, immersive and deeply human. Their headline shows across London, Leeds and Nottingham have sold out, and they’ve toured with artists including Tors, Lexie Carroll, Samantha Crain, Dan Croll, Lewis Watson, Flyte, Say She She, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and more.
Joining them is Edie Bens, a Welsh‑born, London‑based songwriter crafting what she lovingly calls “sad bops.” At just 23, she’s already turning heads with her heartfelt lyricism, soft‑edged indie sensibility and songs that sit somewhere between confession and comfort. Expect gentle melancholy, melodic charm and a voice that feels instantly familiar.
A gorgeous night of harmony‑rich alt‑folk, emotional storytelling and rising talent, perfect for anyone who loves music that feels intimate, honest and quietly powerful.
