The Commandery WorcesterIn these challenging and uncertain times, while the gates to The Commandery, Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum and Hartlebury Castle are closed, museum staff have devised a whole series of ways that visitors can keep in touch and engage with their museums. With some resources online now and others launching over the next few weeks, visitors can enjoy online exhibitions on the Museums Worcestershire website, Make-athon challenges for all the family on social media channels and fascinating insights into the museum collections in a regular Curator’s blog.

On Facebook and Twitter works from the stunning Skyscape exhibition which was due to be displayed at the Art Gallery & Museum from the beginning of April can be viewed, thanks to our partners at the Ashmolean Museum who have curated the exhibition.

Every Tuesday and Thursday people can enjoy Make-athon challenges, with fascinating facts and online activities to try at home using things they find around the house as inspiration.

Colouring sheets of artworks from the museum collections including Benjamin Williams Leader’s famous painting of Worcester Cathedral  can be downloaded from http://www.museumsworcestershire.org.uk/activities/

For those who wish to delve a little deeper the Curator’s blog on www.researchworcestershire.wordpress.com reveals interesting details of objects and artworks from the collections.

Anyone interested is encouraged to follow Museums Worcestershire and the individual museums on a variety of social media channels, currently being staffed by the team that would usually be welcoming visitors through the doors.
