Play Preview: The Unwanted
The Coach House Theatre, Malvern
Friday 18th July at 7.30pm

The Unwanted is a compelling new play written and directed by Sarah Hutton. Set on the very first evening in their new home in Malvern, Lucy and Tom are startled by an unexpected knock at the door. What begins as an apparently simple case of mistaken identity quickly descends into a tense and unsettling evening — one that is tinged with confusion, fear, and an eerie poignancy.

As the night unfolds, the couple find themselves confronting long-buried truths and unspoken tensions, both within themselves and between one another. What initially seemed like a misunderstanding becomes a catalyst for emotional revelation and quiet reckoning.

Shortlisted for the Malvern Theatres’ prestigious Three Counties Stage Writing Competition, The Unwanted is a thought-provoking exploration of how the choices we make — or fail to make — can echo through our lives. It asks whether we can ever truly know if our decisions are right, or whether we are doomed to be haunted by our past actions… or inactions.

This production forms part of the Ink and Curtain Festival at the Coach House Theatre in Malvern. Tickets are priced at £11.50 (including booking fee) and can be booked in advance.
