From the moment you step into the courtyard, Hereford Indie Food Fest hits you with a sensory double-punch: the wafting smells of sizzled grills and baked goods pairing seamlessly with low-slung, ambient 90s cuts spun by DJ Max Galactic. The early evening vibe was chilled, relaxed, and atmospheric—a testament to a venue that has nailed its identity over a decade of running.
As dusk approached, Chris Arnold’s 90s Dub Club shifted the gear, pulling the courtyard crowd into the main stage fold and getting the first wave of hands in the air. Credit has to be given to the sound and lighting crew on site—the mix was warm, punchy, and articulate from the front barrier right to the back food stalls.
Jake of Diamonds and his band delivered one of the undisputed highlights of the night. Packing the stage with raw energy, tight guitar riffs, and a deep, plump bassline, their set turned into a massive collective singalong with a medley of 90s classics—stretching seamlessly from Reef’s Place Your Hands to the Backstreet Boys. Finishing on a towering rendition of Oasis’s Champagne Supernova, they had the entire crowd on their feet.
Even a sudden torrential downpour right as the band stepped off couldn’t break the crowd’s spirits. As the rain cleared, Max Galactic and Ibiza Brass brought pure Balearic energy straight into The Yard. With a driving brass section, pumping live vocals, and classic rave anthems, the crowd responded in unison, pointing fingers straight into the night air.
By the time Kevin & Perry hit the decks, the atmosphere was at absolute peak nostalgia. Bringing their signature bouncy personas, they dropped heavy anthem after heavy anthem to a packed crowd. Glowsticks lit up the yard, the energy went through the roof, and the 10th anniversary of Hereford Indie Food was sealed in style.
