A towering figure in UK Americana returns to the Midlands as Robert Vincent headlines Bilston Town Hall on Thursday 8th October, joined by special guests Pete Hubbard and Charlotte Young for a night of rich storytelling, soulful vocals and world‑class songwriting.
Robert Vincent’s voice, powerful, warm and unmistakably soulful, has long drawn admiration from Bob Harris, Paul Carrack and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Harris named him Emerging Artist of the Year at the inaugural UK Americana Awards in 2016, calling him “absolutely magnetic” and “the real deal”.
His breakthrough came two years later when his performance on BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test: For One Night Only sent him straight to the top of the iTunes Album and Singles Charts.
His critically acclaimed third album ‘In This Town You’re Owned’ cemented his reputation even further, earning AMAUK’s Album of the Year (2021), Artist of the Year, and a #2 spot in the UK Americana Charts. American Songwriter named it one of the top 20 albums across all genres in 2020, a rare accolade for a British Americana artist.
On stage, Vincent is a commanding presence, whether performing solo or with his band. His recent highlights include an official AmericanaFest showcase in Nashville, a UK and European tour with Robert Plant & Saving Grace, Celtic Connections with Mary Chapin Carpenter, supporting Roger Waters at Hyde Park, and tours with Paul Carrack and Duane Eddy, the latter gifting him a signature Gretsch guitar after his 80th birthday show at the London Palladium.
Joining the bill is Birmingham’s own Charlotte Young, a chart‑topping contemporary country artist whose crisp production, smoky vocals and classic storytelling have earned her consecutive #1 EPs and widespread acclaim. Influenced by Johnny Cash, The Eagles and Carrie Underwood, Charlotte blends traditional country warmth with modern polish, delivering songs that feel both timeless and sharply current.
Opening the night is Shropshire alt‑country and folk‑rock artist Pete Hubbard, whose rich vocals and heartfelt lyricism draw from Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, John Prine and Willie Nelson. His debut single ‘Whiskey & Wine’ earned him BBC Introducing Featured Artist in January 2025, marking the start of a breakout year. With influences ranging from Tyler Childers to The Lumineers, Pete brings a raw, roots‑driven sound shaped by both country tradition and the grit of UK songwriting.
