A warm, widescreen night of modern alt‑rock, post‑hardcore edge and Midlands‑grown indie grit arrives at The Sunflower Lounge on Friday, 3rd July, as The Desert Plaza headline, joined by special guests The Tamers and A Week Full of Mondays.
London‑formed alt‑rock outfit The Desert Plaza specialise in big, heart‑heavy hooks wrapped in sun‑drenched melancholy, a sound built for anyone chasing something just out of reach. Fronted by vocalist Luca Zanni, who moved from Modena to London to form the band, TDP came together through late‑night busking sessions and a shared desire to create something bold and original.
With Jack Edwards on guitar, Luke Allatt on bass and Max Rhead on drums, the band blend introspective songwriting with arena‑ready warmth, carving out a modern alt‑rock sound that feels both expansive and deeply personal.
Fresh off a thunderous 2025, including airplay from Radio X’s John Kennedy, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, plus a sold‑out headline at The Louisiana, The Tamers arrive with serious momentum.
Formed by Jacob Harley and Matt Clark, and completed by Ozzie Graham and Martin Blunt, the Wiltshire four‑piece channel the punch of Nothing But Thieves, the swagger of Queens of the Stone Age and the grit of Dead Poets Society. With a packed 2026 of festivals, nationwide shows and new releases ahead, they’re primed to make this a standout set.
West Midlands four‑piece A Week Full of Mondays bring dense, brooding alt‑rock shaped by post‑rock atmosphere and post‑punk tension. Formed in 2022, the band evolved from a collective of writers and session players into a fully realised outfit known for their water‑tight live performances and uncompromising sound.
Their music shifts effortlessly from quiet, shadowy passages to explosive, near‑hysterical peaks, a blend of melodic storytelling and heavy emotional weight that has earned them underground acclaim across the region.
A Friday night stacked with sun‑lit alt‑rock, high‑octane modern riffing and brooding Midlands intensity, perfect for anyone who loves live music that’s heartfelt, dynamic and full of character.
