Vinny Peculiar, often hailed as a poet laureate of the everyday, is a singer-songwriter with a sharp wit, poignant storytelling, and an uncanny knack for spotlighting the quirks of modern life. Blending indie, folk and pop across a career that stretches back decades, his music is both warmly nostalgic and refreshingly original.

Born Alan Wilkes in Worcestershire, Vinny trained as a nurse before his first break with Manchester’s cult label Ugly Man Records – once home to Elbow. Since then, he has released thirteen albums of literate, autobiographical pop over a twenty-year span, while touring extensively in band, solo and duo formats.

The critics have been kind: UNCUT labelled him “an undersung national treasure”, Q Magazine called him “a warm-hearted Morrissey”, while the Irish Times noted him as “the missing link between Jarvis Cocker and Roger McGough”.

Along the way, he has collaborated with an eclectic mix of musicians including Bill Drummond (KLF), Luke Haines (The Auteurs) and Jah Wobble (PIL). His backing line-ups have featured former members of The Smiths, Oasis, Aztec Camera and The Fall. In 2013, he joined forces with ex-Oasis rhythm guitarist Bonehead to form Parlour Flames, further cementing his reputation as a uniquely inventive force on the UK music scene.

Whether playing intimate solo gigs or full-band shows, Vinny Peculiar continues to craft songs that are witty, moving and instantly relatable – the sound of everyday life, reframed with humour and heart.
