Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week with over 20 artforms on show
Worcestershire’s creative community is once again throwing open its doors this summer as Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week returns from Saturday 22 to Monday 31 August, offering visitors the chance to explore artists’ studios, galleries and creative spaces across the county.
Now celebrating its 11th year, the popular free event will see more than 180 artists and makers exhibiting across 100 venues, making it the largest visual arts event of its kind in Worcestershire. Visitors are invited to step behind the scenes, meet the artists, discover how their work is created and purchase original pieces directly from the people who made them.
This year’s event showcases more than 20 different artforms, with several making their Worcestershire Open Studios debut. Alongside painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, glass, printmaking, woodcraft and blacksmithing, visitors will also be able to discover willow weaving, digital art and illustrated poetry for the first time, highlighting the ever-growing diversity of the county’s creative talent.
From rural workshops and converted barns to bustling town-centre galleries and shared exhibition spaces, Art Week offers a unique opportunity to experience art where it is made. Many venues will feature works in progress, demonstrations and sketchbooks alongside finished pieces, giving visitors a fascinating insight into each artist’s creative process.
New for 2026 is the introduction of Young Membership, supporting artists and makers aged 16 to 25 and helping nurture the next generation of Worcestershire’s creative talent.
Co-organiser and participating artist Gemma Griffiths said: “One of the things that makes Art Week so special is the chance to meet artists and makers in the places where they work. Visitors can discover the stories, inspiration and techniques behind the finished pieces while exploring some wonderful venues across the county.
“Last year we welcomed more than 18,000 visits to studios and venues, and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more people this August. Whether you’re planning to buy original artwork, explore a new part of Worcestershire or simply enjoy a fascinating day out, there’s something for everyone.”
Run entirely by volunteers, Worcestershire Open Studios continues to champion local artists while encouraging people to discover, enjoy and invest in original artwork. With free entry to every venue, demonstrations, refreshments at selected locations and plenty of opportunities to chat with exhibitors, Art Week promises to be an inspiring day out for art lovers and curious visitors alike.
