Punk performance poet Bassie-Gracie is stopping off in Worcester this Saturday as part of her UK tour, Poetry for Optimists.
Supported by former Worcester Poet Laureate Freddie Barker, the show takes place at Gaumont, the speciality coffee shop on Foregate Street, close to the station.
Known for her musical musings, feel-good feminism and general silliness, Bassie-Gracie is bringing a show designed to put a little light into the darker days as winter sets in.
Poetry nights at Gaumont have become a regular fixture, and the venue is clearly pleased to welcome a poet from outside the city for this one.
“I’m stoked to be welcoming a poet from out of town for this gig,” says the Gaumont team. “Poetry nights here have become a special thing, and I’m also really looking forward to laughing and pondering on what Bassie-Gracie brings to our space.”
The bar will be open, the coffee machine will be on, and, as with Gaumont’s other inclusive events, everyone is welcome.
Poetry for Optimists is taking in dozens of venues across the UK, including headline sets at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds and Clifton Community Bookshop in Bristol, before making its Worcester stop.
Tickets are available from Gaumont, with substantial student and concession discounts available.
