A night of swirling psych‑pop, dreamy indie warmth and rising‑talent energy arrives at The Victoria on Thursday, 16th July, as ACUA headline, joined by special guests Bluewalk and Onfim.
Cologne’s ACUA have spent the past few years building a reputation for hypnotic, transportive live shows. Formed by Patrick (vocals, guitar), Caroline (drums), Maja (synth) and Igor (bass), the band blends atmospheric guitars, driving rhythms and swirling synth textures into a sound that feels both intimate and cinematic.
With tours across Europe, Canada, the UK and Japan, plus festival appearances at Melt!, Reeperbahn, Canadian Music Week and Herzberg Festival, ACUA have become one of Europe’s most intriguing psych‑pop exports.
Following two acclaimed albums, ‘Head Under Water’ and ‘Is There More Past Or More Future’, the band are now preparing their third full‑length. New singles ‘Now And Nothing’ and ‘Fearing And Facing The World’ offer a glimpse of what’s coming: expansive, melodic, dream‑drenched songs that deepen their already distinctive sound.
Bluewalk brings a rosy, romantic glow to the bill. Their music blends 60s‑inspired melodies and harmonies with the rhythmic sway of bands like The Stone Roses and The Police. Slide guitar, flutes, and organ weave through their hook‑driven songwriting, creating a nostalgic, summery atmosphere that feels familiar yet fresh.
Opening the night are Birmingham indie‑rock five‑piece Onfim. Named after the doodles of a medieval child, the band mixes dream‑pop shimmer with slacker‑rock grit, drawing on influences like Alvvays and Pavement. Three‑part harmonies, distortion and sensitive lyricism shape their sound, brought to life by Charlotte Edgington, Sam Riley, Ben Torrens, Eleanor Hill and Claire Atkin.
