Live music in the Wyre Forest continues to go from strength to strength as Music in the Hall – The Severn Sessions launches a new run of shows at St George’s Hall, Bewdley, with an opening night that promises big riffs, Southern swagger and first-class musicianship.

The series gets underway on Friday 3 July with the return of Arkansas Dave and his four-piece band. Fresh from the Texas music scene and heading to the UK’s Maverick Festival, Arkansas Dave has built a reputation for energetic performances that blend Southern rock, blues and Americana into a powerful live show. If authentic American roots music is your thing, this is one not to miss.

Since 2013, The Severn Sessions has quietly established itself as one of the region’s most respected grassroots live music programmes, bringing acclaimed original artists to Bewdley while championing emerging local talent. Run by the charity behind St George’s Hall, every ticket sold is reinvested into the venue and its growing programme of community events.

This year’s series also introduces an innovative four-tier ticket pricing system, made possible through support from the Arts Council England Grassroots Music Fund. The aim is simple: remove financial barriers and make high-quality live music accessible to as many people as possible, allowing audiences to choose the ticket price that best suits their circumstances. Whether you’re already a regular at The Severn Sessions or looking to discover one of the West Midlands’ hidden live music gems, the new season offers the perfect opportunity to experience original artists in an intimate setting.
