Transatlantic folk duo A Different Thread return to Worcester on October 15th as part of a 20-date UK tour celebrating their new album. Support comes from Worcester-connected folk duo Nastee Chapel.
Alicia Best, from Durham, North Carolina, and Midlands-born Robert Jackson met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland, discovering an instant musical and personal connection. Joined by Mike Seal on double bass, their distinctive blend of British folk-rock and North Carolina alt-country has attracted attention from BBC radio, Rolling Stone (Germany) and Americana UK, who praised their “charming, exquisite songwriting” and “delightful harmonies”.
The duo recently won the folk category at the International Acoustic Music Awards with the title track from their third album, Over Again. The new record follows a breakout year that included a five-star review in RnR magazine, Apple Music editorial playlist placements and growing recognition across the international folk and Americana circuit.
Live, A Different Thread combine acoustic guitar, fiddle, harmonica and suitcase drums to create a sound that can move effortlessly from intimate, harmony-led moments to foot-stomping energy and full audience singalongs. Their songs explore wanderlust, resilience and social justice, while retaining an underlying sense of hope.

Support comes from Nastee Chapel, featuring Steve van Neikerk from South Africa and Worcester musician Natalie Grace Kelsey, whose musical roots remain firmly planted in the local community.
Expect something rather different as the duo combine clog dancing, flute, cajon, guitar and haunting harmonies with storytelling and virtuoso musicianship. Drawing on a wide range of influences, Nastee Chapel create a compelling musical melting pot with an old-time feel and contemporary relevance.
Following their debut single The Bucket in 2022, the duo released their debut album Lost & Found in 2023, produced by Nigel Stonier. Recent releases have included arrangements of traditional folk songs including Shady Grove, Ye Jacobites by Name and Souling Song, the latter gaining viral attention on TikTok and Instagram.
Their second album is currently underway for release in early 2027, bringing together original songs and folk material exploring the stories of everyday people dealing with love, war and the struggle for freedom.
With two distinctive acts bringing their own interpretations of folk, Americana and traditional music to the stage, this promises to be an evening of rich harmonies, compelling storytelling and plenty of musical surprises.
