Poster for Lights Camera Action 2026

Worcester Film Festival has teamed up with Artists Clubhouse once again to open submissions for Lights, Camera…Paint—now in its fifth year and set to take over the city centre this September as a lead-in to the 2026 festival.

This year’s theme, “Severn On Screen”, invites artists to explore water through a cinematic lens. That could mean riffing on films set by rivers, coastlines or canals—or reimagining Worcester’s own waterside spots as if they’ve been lifted straight from the big screen. The brief leans open-ended, encouraging interpretations that are personal, experimental, and visually bold.

Submissions are open now via Artists Clubhouse, with a deadline of 26 July 2026. No experience is required—first-timers and established artists are equally encouraged to apply. A panel will select 20 works for the final trail, alongside five additional pieces from local charities and community groups.

“Film is an art form that brings together so many different crafts,” says Worcester Film Festival producer Kirstie. “It’s the community behind it that makes it special.”

That sense of accessibility is central to the project. Artists Clubhouse founder Emily Johnson frames it as more than just an exhibition: “We want people to engage with creativity in whatever way works for them—whether that’s making, discussing, or simply taking it in. That connection can have a real impact on wellbeing.”

The Lights, Camera…Paint trail runs from 29 August through September 2026, spreading across Worcester city centre.
