Join Script Haven for an evening with debut novelist and former music industry executive Delphine Seddon as she discusses her fiercely feminist debut, Darkening Song.

Blending the backstage drama of Daisy Jones & The Six with the raw intensity of Euphoria, Darkening Song follows two young women navigating the unforgiving world of the music industry: a teenage star from Manchester, failed by the very machine that made her an idol, and her ambitious manager, forced to choose between friendship and power.

Part love story, part tale of friendship and betrayal, the novel explores how past traumas shape the present, while ultimately offering a story of hope and the unexpected ways dreams can come true.

Already set to be adapted into a major TV series, Darkening Song is accompanied by an original soundtrack written and produced by an all-female creative team, further amplifying its celebration of women’s voices in music and storytelling.

Before turning to fiction, Delphine Seddon spent more than two decades at the heart of the music business. Beginning her career as a talent lawyer during the Myspace era and the rise of Lily Allen, she went on to become Head of Business Affairs at Warner Records, working with artists including Dua Lipa, Liam Gallagher, Foals, Royal Blood and Enya. She later managed artists before serving as COO of September, whose clients have included Glass Animals, Little Simz and Adele.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from a writer whose insider knowledge of the music industry brings authenticity, urgency and emotional depth to one of the year’s most anticipated debut novels.
