The show where strangers experience the magic of singing together.

Forget sitting back and watching the show – at Choir in a Night, the audience is the entertainment. Local musician Chris Yates is bringing his uplifting, feel-good singing experience to Kidderminster on 26 November, inviting a room full of strangers to become one epic choir in a single evening.

Set in the quirky surroundings of the beautiful Church Venue, the concept is simple: bring people together, teach them a song and perform it as a choir before the night is over. No auditions, no rehearsals and, most importantly, no previous singing experience required.

Whether you’re a seasoned singer, someone who enjoys a good singalong or simply fancy trying something completely different, everyone is welcome. Bring a group of friends for a night out with a difference, or turn up on your own and leave having made a few new ones.

The song itself remains a closely guarded secret until the evening, although it’s guaranteed to be a familiar crowd-pleaser. Lyrics are provided and Chris takes everyone through the process, splitting the room into three groups to tackle different parts. Before long, those assembled will be singing together in three-part harmony. There’s even an on-site bar for anyone needing a little extra encouragement!

For Chris, the Kidderminster event is something of a homecoming. Originally from Stourport, he has recently returned to the Midlands and is relishing the opportunity to perform locally again after a lengthy absence.

The venue holds particular memories. During his involvement with local drama groups CTMTC and KODS, the church provided rehearsal space, while in 2017, during his studies at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Chris staged his first concert there.

Since then, he has developed an impressive international career as a composer, conductor, pianist and musical director, working with everyone from complete beginners to professional performers.

With plans to take Choir in a Night on a UK tour in 2027, Chris is bringing the experience back to where some of his musical journey began. But for now, the mission is simple: get Kidderminster singing.

One song, one night and one room full of people discovering just how much fun making music together can be.

Tickets for this show are highly recommended and advance tickets are available now.
