Historically, Worcester is known as the Faithful City due to the city’s loyalty to the crown during the English Civil War. Equally, The Woo is famous for Lea & Perrins sauce and being the home of one of the oldest newspapers in the country (sic)…but I digress!
In the past Worcester had its own regular Record Fair in the town hall as many will recall. Sadly, the city has not had a Fair to call its own for a few years. We aim to change this with help from Friary Walk Shopping Centre and the utilising of their Community Pod in the centre of the Woo.
Presently, we are piecing together our inaugural Record Fair in the city’s centre. The Café have agreed to open up for us on the day; to supply your every need regarding beverages and food. Car parking is readily available on site – just tap Moreton Place, Worcester WR1 3LZ into your satnav– and according to the Centre’s website cheaper parking is available on Sundays! The Community Pod is easily accessible for all. Just as importantly we have dealers, sellers and traders arriving for the Record Fair from far afield and just over the road. We can promise a plethora of pre-loved & new vinyl, Cds, literature and an agreeable ambiance to make the £1 tariff worthwhile. We know the economy is as fragile as Worcester Porcelain, however, prices from pocket-money value upwards. Moreover, expect plenty of reminiscing, jocularity and maybe an unknown detail or two. Did you know Mr. Weller’s name is not really Paul?
“In the city…”
For the future we are hoping to grow and evolve in our new found home. We have the capacity and the opportunity and we are hoping to take full advantage. From the outset we are relying on your loyalty and support “Wusta”. Sadly, we can no longer rely on the Berrow’s Worcester Journal to help spread the world so please do share with fellow obsessives. Let’s be honest, all we need now is a civil turn out and a splash of Worcester sauce!
