Sunset Silver - It's About Time - EP Review

Sunset Silver have been writing music and jamming together for the past 15 years after meeting in Highschool, so it’s only right that they name their debut EP ‘It’s About Time’. The band’s first-ever release is an aptly named insight into the journeys we take through life, both literally and metaphorically, with each of the 9 tracks taking an honest look at life with songs that many listeners will relate to instantly.

The album takes many twists and turns, mixing genres like Classic Rock, Blues, Country and Acoustic Rock throughout the album, with stand out tracks like ‘Working on the Road’, which gives guitarists Pete Prichard and James Rose an opportunity to show off their many talents by mixing classic blues chords with powerful electric guitar riffs. As well as a great use of the harmonica on the track ‘This House’, a song in which vocalist and lyricist Robert Powell takes a fond look at what home means, and how no matter where you’re living if you fill your home with love, music, and laughter anywhere can feel like home.

Robert admits that life and its many responsibilities have always gotten in the way of the band recording and releasing music, but they’ve knuckled down and spent the past 6 months working on the album in guitarist Pete Prichard’s home studio. They admitted they haven’t rushed into releasing music in the past because Sunset Silver wanted to present something heartfelt and meaningful to the word, and they’ve certainly achieved that with their debut release.

You can listen to ‘Its About Time’ on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp, as well as checking out the band’s first music video for the track ‘Cannot Be Denied’ on the Sunset Silver Facebook and Youtube Channel.
