On Saturday 11th March, the Hereford County Drama Festival saw Off Centre Theatre emerge victorious with their production of “Beside the seaside, beside the sea,” an original play written and directed by Jim Newcomb. The play, which tells a tragic story of a child’s death and its impact on a struggling marriage, won the festival’s coveted Garrick Cup. Joel Daffurn and Becky Townsend, who starred in the production, were recognized as the festival’s Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society’s production of “Kindertransport Act 1” secured second place and the Runners Up Cup in front of a packed audience at the Market Theatre in Ledbury. LADS also claimed the Wye Cup with their production of “Rambles on Radio”.

Festival chairman, David Newton declared “Once again the festival has delivered quality productions to an enthusiastic audience. Everybody involved deserves high praise for their efforts.”
